REIKI: A CHAPERON TO THE INDISPENSABLE CHAKRAS

THE SEVEN CHAKRAS

The seven chakras are essential for balance and maintenance of the energy of the body, mind, and spirit. The word ‘Chakra’ is derived from the Sanskrit word meaning wheel. It signifies that the lifeforce that is within us also referred to as prana in Sanskrit, spins inside of us. In former times, before the advancement of medicine, these chakras were vital for the treatment of ailments. If anyone of the Chakras is over spinning or blocked due to some reason, it causes health issues, both physical and mental. As Reiki, they are devoid of any dogmas or belong to any particular religion.

THE ROOT CHAKRA

The first chakra is the Root chakra or Muladhara chakra, which is at the end of our spine, near the tailbone. It parallels our adrenal gland and is responsible for the control and conservation of health, for instance, preserving healthy heart, kidneys growth and quality of blood. Muladhara is formed from Sanskrit two words, ‘Mula’, denoting root and ‘Dhara’, indicating root with the symbolic color red. Root chakra implies grounding, that is, linking one’s energy to the earth.

A balanced chakra implies that you experience feelings of serenity, triumph, and security. You perceive the bonding of you and your past experiences. An overreactive chakra implies apprehension and agitation. It intends to put you in a mirage, send you false signals for survival when there is no such relevant threat. Physically, you may face hip and lower back discomfort, digestive problems, ovarian cysts or prostate issues. An under reactive chakra would often put you into daydreaming and facing concentration difficulties. One can balance the first chakra by recoupling with the flora and fauna, connecting with the soul and hence the creator, and contemplation.

SACRAL CHAKRA

Also known as the Svadhishana chakra, it is positioned below the navel, inflowing into its center. It means ‘a place of self’ and corresponds to a person’s gonads. It controls the kidneys, uterus and the sexual organs. This chakra is an illustration of your distinctiveness as an individual and permits you to enjoy the substantial benefits that nature has in store. It is constructive energy encircling life and is represented by the orange color.

A stable chakra allows an individual to relish in all gratifying things life has to offer, for instance, good food, sex, artistic activities, without overdoing it. It instills a sense of well-being and copiousness. An underactive chakra implies a lack of creativity, passion, reduced sex drive, and depression. An individual with a dormant second chakra is occupied working without reaping the benefits and adoring life. An overactive chakra leads to addictions and gourmand, obesity and impatience. One can energize the chakra by enjoying life, doing leisurely stuff and drawing off excessive energy from the heart to the earth.

SOLAR PLEXUS

The solar plexus, also Manipura in Sanskrit meaning gleaming gem, is a source of personal power, identity, self-esteem, and the gut. It corresponds to the pancreas and controls the internal organs like the stomach, intestines, liver, lungs, and heart. Known as the warrior chakra, it is a seat of one’s personal power, where a person has a sense of confidence, wisdom, and security and is represented by the color yellow.

The balanced third chakra means perceiving feelings of wisdom, confidence, and decisiveness. When this chakra is disproportionately energized, one gets agitated and angered quickly and is acquisitive, lacks empathy and concern. On a physical level, one could face digestive difficulties, imbalance in the internal organs like pancreas, liver, and kidney. An underactive chakra implies the person is indigent, timid, indecisive and apprehensive. One can balance and energize the chakra by the creation of personal affirmations and feeling poised. Recognizing the talents and unique abilities is another method of balancing the chakra.

THE HEART CHAKRA

The Anahata interpreted as ‘unhurt’ and represented by the green color is basically the empowerment of love, compassion, and healing. It parallels the thymus, controls the heart, the circulatory system of the human body and the thymus gland. It is the center chakra located at the heart and exudes all over the chest and connects with the higher creation, the heavens, and our creator and the lower, corporeal world.

At equipoise, one is able to see love and kindness even through the worst situations. When the chakra is overreactive, you tend to signify actions in the name of love and put others before your needs. Physical related ailments include increased heartbeat, palpitations, relationship, and kinship tie issues. Inactivity of the chakra implies trust issues, barriers, and heartbreaks. Physically you could suffer circulatory system issues. To balance the middle chakra, you should begin by treating yourself with love. Meditating, lowering boundaries and surrounding yourself with kindness are few techniques.
