Every year on 5th September teacher’s day is celebrated in India to tribute and celebrate the birth of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who also happened to be free India’s first Vice president. On today’s occasion, all the students pay their due regards and express their gratitude to teachers by either gifting them cards, roses, gifts, chocolates etc or by presenting some beautiful acts like singing a song, dancing or presenting skit that they dedicate to all of their teachers. Also, in most of the schools every year, a tradition is done wherein the senior students would do a role-play and dress up as their teachers to look after their juniors for a day. The connection between teachers and students is unique. From helping students gain proficiency with their alphabetic letter sets to guiding them about life and existence, teachers have a significant part in forming the sort of individual understudies become. Since schools and universities are closed due to the COVID pandemic, the festivals will be remembered fondly.

History of teacher’s day celebration

Teachers' Day in India is commended on the fifth of September to honour the birth commemoration of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He was a prestigious researcher, the beneficiary of Bharat Ratna, second President of free India and first vice president. Born on the auspicious day of 5 September in the year 1888. As an educationist, he was a promoter of enlightenment and was a recognized academician and more than anything else a great teacher. He asked everyone to celebrate his birth anniversary as teachers' day throughout the country to be grateful and pay our respect to all our teachers and mentor, during his tenure. Importance of Teachers Day

One should not forget that fact that without a teacher a student can stand nowhere. In a great country like India where our culture proudly honours the ‘Guru- shishya parampara’, teachers’ day has always been an important part of our culture. Therefore, what better day can we get as students other than this special day to tell and be thankful to our teachers for their role in our lives. They not only help us in becoming successful in all spheres of our life yet also guides us to tackle all the challenges that life throws at us like a warrior. It is not for any reason that we mention school as our second home and our teachers a place next to our parents. With the diversified and greatness of Indian culture, we even honour our teachers by placing them above god as well. It is rightly quoted so in the below shloka

 गुरुर्ब्रह्मा ग्रुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः गुरुः साक्षात् परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः

The above shloka means my teacher is lord Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, the trinity three gods who are responsible for ruling the entire universe and guiding them to the direction of light. I bow to my teacher in whom lies the wisdom of the entire universe. Therefore, to acknowledge and pay respect tour teachers, it is our obligation to express gratitude toward them in any the event once per year and Teachers' Day gives us an ideal chance to do as such.
